East Texas State Fair opens its gates at new location in west Tyler

After prepping for months, the attractions, including fair food and rides, are waiting for people at The Park of East Texas, located off State Highway 64 in Tyler.

TYLER, Texas — The East Texas State Fair opened its gates Friday morning for the first time at its new location.

After prepping for months, the attractions, including fair food and rides, are waiting for people at The Park of East Texas, located at 11315 State Highway 64 West in Tyler.

East Texas State Fair Director of Marketing and Communications Mentie Betts said opening day will include a performance by Cody Canada and the Departed as a headliner. The show will start at 9 p.m.

"And we’ve got this brand new, awesome stage that is super broad and right in the middle of our grounds so you can’t miss it," Betts said. "There’s tables under there, there’s chairs under there, there’s shade cloth and it’s right along food row. So come out grab dinner and bring your friends and enjoy some live music."

Fair hours are Monday through Thursday 4 to 11 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is free on Fridays before 2 p.m. for those wanting to grab lunch. The carnival opens at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and at noon Saturday and Sunday.

The fair runs through Sept. 29. For a full list of events, entertainment and hours, check out their website here.
