DEL RIO, Texas — The Val Verde County Sheriff's Office says the body of an East Texas man who went missing following a boating accident in Del Rio has been recovered.
According to Sheriff Joe Martinez, the body of Richard "Man" Babb, 42, of Lufkin, was found by the Texas Game Wardens Wednesday, around 9:30 a.m., about a mile-and-a-half from the international bridge. Before being located, he was last seen on his boat near Lake Amistad Dam on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Babb was in distress near the back of his boat when it struck the dam, Texas EquuSearch says. Two passengers, to whom he was giving a bow fishing tour, were found safe.
Sheriff Martinez thanked multiple agencies and community members who assisted the Babb's family with food, housing and other necessities.
