UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas man is dead and two others were injured following a two-vehicle crash in the East Mountain area.
According to the East Mountain Police Department, on Monday, Feb. 5, around 2:30 p.m., police were called to a wreck at the intersection of Hwy. 300 (Gilmer Rd.) and FM 726.
When officials arrived on scene, they noticed fuel was leaking and one person was trapped. Three others were able to get out of the vehicle and were being attended by an off-duty nurse.
The man who was trapped was identified as Robert Haley, of Ore City. When he was removed from the vehicle, he was pronounced dead by a justice of the peace.
The driver and passengers of the second vehicle were taken to a Longview hospital for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.
