POLICE: East Texas man arrested after threatening hospital workers with grenade in Tyler

Erbaugh said that Lambeth was upset with the workers and allegedly pulled out a grenade which was later discovered to be non-functioning.

TYLER, Texas — An East Texas man has been arrested for allegedly threatening hospital workers with a non-functioning grenade on Thursday afternoon.

According to Tyler Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh, officials responded to a call around 4:30 p.m. at UT Health Hospital in Tyler after John Lambeth threatened workers with a grenade.

Erbaugh explains the incident began after Lambeth's wife was refused to leave the hospital for unknown reasons to have a smoke break.

Erbaugh said that Lambeth was upset with the workers and allegedly pulled out a grenade which was later discovered to be non-functioning.

John Lambeth, 60, of Henderson, has been arrested on a charge of hoax bomb, a Class A misdemeanor, and was booked into the Smith County Jail.
