CARTHAGE, Texas — One person has been arrested and another has been injured following a shooting in Carthage.
According to the Carthage Police Department, on Monday around 9:25 p.m., officers were called to the 500 block of Reese St. on reports of a shooting.
Police say they found a man lying in the yard with a gunshot wound. The man stated Corey Ward had shot him before leaving in an a dark-colored SUV.
About 10 minutes later, a Panola County deputy spotted the suspect vehicle entering Beckville on Hwy. 149. The deputy performed a traffic stop and identified Ward as the driver. Two weapons and ammo were found in the vehicle.
Ward was taken into custody on weapons violations. He was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
