ATHENS, Texas — A 28-year-old East Texas man was arrested this weekend after an argument over money led to a fight causing the death of another man in Henderson County.
Brayan Castro Castellanos, of Athens, is charged with criminally negligent homicide in connection with the death of Pacheco Flores, 39, on Nov. 3.
According to the city of Athens, police officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 900 Block of E Lane Street in Athens. People at the scene pointed out an unconscious man, who was identified as Flores, lying on the ground. Officers attempted CPR and life-saving measures.
After interviewing witnesses, Athens police learned a disturbance began when Castellanos walked to a residence to collect money that became an argument and then turned into a physical fight, according to the city of Athens.
Flores got knocked off the porch onto his head, causing him to become unconscious. He taken to a hospital and later declared deceased.
