KILGORE, Texas — One East Texas K-9 officer received some new equipment for his birthday.
Kilgore Police Department K-9 Santo received a helmet cam and some booties to protect his feet. He had to share the new gear off on the Kilgore Police Department's Facebook page.
Santo is partnered with his human officer Caleb Watson, who joined the Kilgore Police Department in March 2023. Watson took on his role as a K9 Handler in October 2023 when the police department received Santo, a Belgian Malinois, according to the Kilgore police.
K-9 Santo is trained to track lost people or suspects, sniff out lost or discarded articles, conduct building searches, narcotics detection and handler protection.
