TYLER, Texas — At an East Texas Food Bank fundraiser next month, people will get to have a taste of several Tyler restaurants while helping the nonprofit provide meals for hundreds in need.
The food bank will host the Empty Bowls 2024 fundraiser on Feb. 29, aka Leap Day, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A $50 ticket will get attendees a chance to try a variety of food, beverages and desserts.
The restaurants currently participating are Javi's, Twelve, Caribbean Kitchen, FD's Grillhouse and Papacita's. More are expected to join the fundraiser.
According to the food bank, each ticket will provide 250 meals to East Texans facing hunger. Tickets can be purchased here.
There will also be a silent auction and live music. Attendees get to take home a handcrafted bowl created by local school children and artisans. The bowl serves as a reminder that one in seven adults and one in five children in East Texas facing food insecurity.
People must be at least 21 years old to attend.
