LONGVIEW, Texas — "She definitely was the glue to our family, and it has been hard without her," Lita Walker said.
Rosemary Rodriguez went missing October 8, 2019. Two years later, her car was found in the woods of Gregg County, with her body inside.
"We have piece in having her back, and not having to wonder where she is, there is still the question of what happened to her and why she was where she was," Walker said.
Gregg County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Craig Harrington says based on evidence, it doesn’t appear Rodriguez died of natural causes.
"What we try to encourage people is think back, if you remember something or you know something, come forward let us know, give us information, because someone knows something of what happened," Harrington said.
At the time, Rodriguez was living with her boyfriend in the Mount Pisgah area near Kilgore. When Rodriguez was initially reported missing, she was last seen leaving his house. Investigators say they reached out to Rodriguez’s boyfriend, but he eventually stopped responding. To this day, he has had no contact with Rodriguez's family or authorities.
"There's a little frustration, there's also an understanding that these things take time meanwhile we still have to carry on with our lives," Walker said.
"Rosemary was very important to her family, she was loved by a lot of people, and what happened to her, either natural or otherwise is very tragic and we want people with information on this to come forward," Harrington said.
Lita and Frances say it's been years since they’ve received any new updates about their mother, but they continue to keep her name and her memory alive.
"We just try to be there for each other and not that we've given up hope completely, I certainly hope someday the truth will come to light," Walker said.
