HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas — East Texas investigators have identified three suspects believed to have been responsible for the fatal overdose of a 16-year-old girl.
According to the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, deputies began a death investigation on July 17 regarding the overdose. A toxicology report later revealed a newer synthetic drug called N-Pyrrolidino Protonitazene was in her bloodstream.
The sheriff's office said this drug is "25 times more potent than fentanyl." The investigation led the HCSO to identify the person accused of supplying the victim with the pills that took her life. Now, three people have been identified as suspects.
The investigation remains ongoing.
"I would like to remind the community, any illicit pill you take can kill you," Hopkins County Sheriff Lewis Tatum said.
