East Texas churches share gospel online amid COVID-19 outbreak

As the coronavirus continues to spread through Texas, many people are trying to avoid meeting in large groups. This led to some East Texas churches holding services online.

"Well good morning Bethel, my name is Ross and I'm one of the pastors here at this church," said Ross Strador in his online sermon Sunday morning for Bethel Bible. "We're doing church online this morning."

Bethel Bible Church is just one of many East Texas churches that decided not to hold services in person on Sunday.

Bethel Bible Executive Pastor Fritz Hager said this decision was made to protect their members from coming into contact with COVID-19.

"Rather than gathering a group of people together, who could potentially infect one another, we decided that it's best right now for us not to meet," said Hager.

At first, Bethel Bible considered scaling back services and not offering childcare but Hager says since they can stream or pre-record services this would be the safest option.

"We're fortunate in that our church has been video streaming our services for a couple of years now," said Hager. "What we did was we recorded a special message for today, speaking into the fears that people have."
