East Texas artist creates 'everlasting flower' using crocheting skills for unique Valentine's Day gift

"I've always loved real flowers, but it's just, I feel like it's hard seeing them die," artist and entrepreneur Evelin Garcia said.

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — February means Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and everyone's looking for something special to give to our special someone. Well, one young entrepreneur in East Texas has figured out a way to make flowers last forever.

Artist Evelin Garcia, of Jacksonville, said she loved the idea of flowers, but never liked how fast they die.

Through her creativity and skills, she has designed beautiful crochet flowers that have become a local hit. Something that started as a hobby for Garcia has now turned into a business.

"January of 2023, I decided to make a Valentine's posts, saying that I was taking orders. And I think I got maybe almost over 30 orders during that time," Garcia said.

She said her love for crocheting came from her grandma and it was something they would do together.

"I've always loved real flowers, but I feel like it's hard seeing them die," Garcia said.

She said these flowers are meant to be given to someone to show everlasting love. And with every flower she makes, she said it’s always done with love and appreciation.

"It just makes me happy that they're able to trust me and my work and stuff. So yeah, it's a really big meaning," Garcia said.

For now Garcia is still creating her flowers from home, but she hopes to keep expanding her business.

She's based in Jacksonville and taking orders right now for Valentine’s Day. You can find her on social media @crochetedbyev.
