East Texans to support Bishop Strickland with march this weekend in Tyler

Knights of the Republic will be hosting a Rosary procession and march in front of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Saturday morning.

TYLER, Texas — A Texas organization is hosting a march to support Bishop Strickland in Tyler on Saturday.

Last weekend, Strickland was removed from his position by Pope Francis.

Knights of the Republic will be hosting a Rosary procession and march in front of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

According to a priest at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the march for Strickland will start here at the church and go down Broadway to the Square.

In a social media post regarding the march in Tyler, Strickland said "I pray this effort is prayerful, respectful, and focused on Jesus."

Some members of the church have also spoken out on what they hope comes out of this march for Strickland.

Tyler PD said officers are providing security through another agency requested by the church.

The city of Tyler told us they haven't received any permits regarding a march.

However, according to the Texas State Law Library, protestors are allowed to march on a sidewalk as long as it's not disrupting traffic.

Members of the church said they expect a lot of people to be in attendance.

"I hope that it's a prayerful march and a march of celebration for him defending the faith and not, you know, overly critical of things that really are outside of our control," said Cynthia Kent, church member.

The march and Rosary will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
