TYLER — A Longhorn legend presented an Aggie freshman with a scholarship on Thursday.
Emmanuel Daniels, John Tyler High School’s 2018 Valedictorian, received the fourth annual Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Academic Scholarship Award during a luncheon in The Rose Room at Willow Brook Country Club.
Daniels will be attending Texas A&M to major in biology and then enter medical school to become a surgeon.
Campbell and his son, Christian Campbell, presented the scholarship to Daniels, welcoming him to his family.
The Tyler Rose also joked, “I like A&M, they helped me win a Heisman in 1977.”
The game he was referring to was on Nov. 26, 1977 when Campbell rushed for 222 yards and scored three touchdowns on 27 carries. He also had a 60-yard TD pass.
