SMITH COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Toll 49 in Smith County on Friday afternoon.
According to Nikki Simmons, public outreach coordinator for Smith County Emergency Services District 2, the crash occurred on Toll 49 near FM 724 around 1:30 p.m. when a passenger vehicle carrying a cargo trailer hit the vehicle behind them.
Simmons said the cargo trailer unhitched while traveling and caused the accident to occur.
Simmons confirmed there are no fatalities from the wreck but said DPS is investigating if injuries occurred.
