LONE OAK, Texas — Lone Oak ISD is mourning the loss of a lifetime resident after he was struck and killed by a vehicle during Friday night's football game.
According to the school district, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle traveling on US Highway 69. LOISD said the pedestrian was the brother of a beloved staff member.
Lone Oak ISD's Buffalo Stadium is located along US Highway 69. The Lone Oak Buffaloes were playing the Grand Saline Indians on Friday night.
School counselors will be available for anyone who is affected by the incident, Lone Oak ISD said.
"Such a loss is unimaginable, and we stand united in our support for her and her family during this incredibly difficult time," the statement read.
The district added that the crash serves as a "harsh reminder" of the need to drive cautiously, especially in and around school campuses.
