LONGVIEW, Texas — It's Mother's Day weekend, but Nellie Jernigan has been looking forward to a different date for months.
Her son, Marvin Laywell, will turn 50 on May 17, and she didn't know how to mark his birthday.
Marvin doesn't need any material things, his mother said.
