ZAVALLA, Texas — A Deep East Texas church was damaged Monday after what appears to be an explosion.
Multiple volunteer fire department crews responded to the Solid Rock Baptist Church on FM 2109 in Zavalla. Police said the church was under construction when firefighters received calls about a fire, according to the Huntington Police Department.
The police department said the incident appears to have been caused by an explosion, which caused a door and debris to be discarded up to 100 feet from the building. The Zavalla Fire Department and Police Department are working on this incident.
