RED OAK, Texas — North Texas police are investigating after a dead baby was found Thursday afternoon in Red Oak.
The Ellis County Sheriff's Office received a call at about 1:45 p.m. from local sanitation employees who said they found the baby on their garbage route in the 1300 block of Saint Andrews Drive, officials say.
Investigators with the ECSO Criminal Investigations Division confirmed the report after arriving on the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
"Living home in Red Oak, serving as the Ellis County Judge—this matter is extremely concerning for our community," Judge Todd Little told WFAA. "You can be assured that as county judge, we will supply the necessary resources to our sheriff’s office to solve this horrific situation. Obviously, Ellis County is a protector of life, and we’ve always defended law and order. Sheriff Norman and his team will work tirelessly to solve this crime and we will support them in this matter."
