Officials are searching for the driver who hit a Smith County ESD 2 firefighter on Sunday night.
According to SCESD2, around 8:30 p.m., a firefighter who was responding to a crash on FM 850 was struck by a vehicle.
The firefighter was taken to a hospital where they were treated and released. SCESD2 says this is the second time one of their firefighters has been hit in the last month.
"It was just a few weeks ago that we posted about vehicles driving around the traffic cones as firefighters were working a scene," SCESD2 said. "Drivers, you must pay attention. Our firemen have wives, children, families of their own. This should not be happening."
The suspect vehicle is described as a 90s model GMC Sierra 1500 step-side.
If you have any information on the crash, please call SCESD2 at (903) 617-6578.
