VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — A Dallas-area man accused of shooting a woman in a vehicle while driving on Interstate 20 in Van Zandt County was arrested Friday night.
Juan M. Wilkins, 55, of Lewisville, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting that happened around 9 p.m. on I-20 near mile marker 529, according to the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office said two vehicles were moving westbound when the driver of one vehicle reportedly shot at a gun toward the other vehicle, striking that vehicle's passenger.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released. After Wilkins was arrested, he later posted a $30,000 bond and was released. The investigation is ongoing, officials said.
