TYLER, Texas — A firefighter was taken to the hospital after a heat-related injury while battling a garage fire on Greg Lane in Tyler.
Tyler Fire Department Assistant Chief Kelly Adkinson said the fire started in the garage of the home located in the 3300 block of Greg Lane before moving to a second house. No one was inside either of the houses and no residents or animals were injured.
The blaze was reported around 3:23 p.m. According to officials, the fire did cause heavy damage to the first home while the second home had moderate damage. The fire was controlled at 4:05 p.m.
One firefighter did receive medical attention for a heat-related injury. He was taken to the hospital, but he is expected to be OK.
Fire Marshal Joey Hooten said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The blaze is under investigation.
