Convenience store with New Mexico, West Texas connections coming to East Texas

The store is set to be located on State Highway 31 West and County Road 1137 in Smith County, which is between Tyler and Chandler.

TYLER, Texas — A convenience store and gas station with ties to New Mexico and West Texas is expected to come to the East Texas area later this year. 

Allsup's Convenience Store and Gas Station, which began in Roswell, New Mexico and primarily has locations in New Mexico, West Texas and Oklahoma, has filed a permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. 

The store is set to be located on State Highway 31 West and County Road 1137 in Smith County, which is between Tyler and Chandler. The project was set to start July 22 and conclude Dec. 17 this year, according to the project details. 

The estimated cost will be $2.25 million for the 5,630 square foot facility. 

Allsup's began in 1956 when Lonnie and Barbara Allsup opened their first store in Roswell, New Mexico. According to its website, Allsup's has since become one of the most iconic and beloved convenience store chains in the country.
