HENDERSON, Texas — Henderson ISD Interim Superintendent Jim Dunlap announced that Clay Freeman remains the Athletic Director and that Freeman has agreed to take on additional duties assisting with HISD’s maintenance and transportation areas.
The announcement comes in the wake of pushback from the HISD community over a report on Tuesday morning that Dunlap intended to reassign Freeman out of the Athletic Director position to a new role called Executive Director of Facilities.
According to Freeman, shortly after Dunlap was appointed interim superintendent on July 15, Dunlap offered him a buyout on his employment contract. Last Friday, Dunlap met again with Freeman and recommended his reassignment to Executive Director of Facilities.
