The city of Tyler announced on Tuesday the grand reopening of the historic Mayfair building will be held in April.

The celebration of the renovated nearly 100-year-old dance hall is set for April 4 with pictures on the red carpet, live music and complimentary themed mocktails. The event will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The historic Mayfair dance hall, located at 411 Fair Park Drive, was built in 1927 and served as a prime concert venue for several musicians including Dolly Parton as well as Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash & June Carter, Hank Williams, Bob Barker and David Allen Coe.

There will also be entertainment by The Tuxedo Cats and food from various food trucks for purchase.

"The former dance hall was renovated to preserve its historical elements, including the original floors, windows, stage and green room. New structural enhancements include expanded storage and ADA-compliant facilities to cater to all needs, plus roll-up doors leading to a future spacious deck and food truck park," the event description reads.

Last November, Tyler Mayor Don Warren made a social media plea asking for Parton to return to Tyler for the grand reopening event.

Dolly took the Mayfair stage on Feb. 7, 1972 with country musician Porter Wagoner, who passed away in 2007.

In the social media plea titled, "Waiting for Dolly to Ring," Warren noted the "9 to 5" singer's passion for yellow roses.

"This is the same stage that you sang on. We want you back on this same stage," Warren said. "Would that not be exciting? The Mayfair was built in 1927 and over the years, it has just fallen apart. Well, we are totally restoring the building. It's going to be the dance hall it used to be."

Warren said the Tyler would love for Dolly to "play a song - two or three or how ever many you want to do."

"We know that this is a long shot," Warren said in the video. "We got to give it a try. We're Tyler, Texas. We dream big, we think big and we want you here. You're a legend. Have your people call our people."
