PITTSBURG, Texas — The city of Pittsburg received the Path to Totality grant in preparation of the 2024 total solar eclipse.
The total solar eclipse will happen on Monday, April 8, 2024, at precisely 12:26 p.m. It will reach maximum intensity at 1:45 p.m. with the eclipse concluding at 3:05 p.m.
As the date approaches, the city is gearing up for an influx of several thousand visitors and the grant will help prepare Pittsburg. The city will be collaborating with local businesses and organizations for a variety of eclipse-related events to entertain and educate.
Officials are working to launch web pages for a comprehensive guide to all eclipse-related activities, including information about lodging, events and in-depth information about the science of a total eclipse.
