City of Mabank issues shelter-in-place order

The order takes effective 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.

MABANK, Texas — The City of Mabank is ordering residents to shelter in place during COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

The order takes effective starting 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 until 11:59 p.m. on April 8.

Residents may leave to go to work at an essential business or pick up necessary items, such as going to the grocery store, pharmacy or doctor’s appointment. 

The city says residents doing essential activities or services are allowed to leave their homes during this order while maintaining a social distancing of at least six feet from another person. 

All dine-in services at restaurants are not allowed, carry-out, delivery or drive-thru only. 

In addition, religious services may only be done through video. 

Residents may also leave to care for a family member or pet.

Law enforcement is authorized to enforce the order and a violation may result in a fine up to $1,000 and/or jail time of up to 180 days.
