City of Longview hosts free spring break activities

These events serve a dual purpose of meeting the community's needs and showcasing the city's services year-round.

LONGVIEW, Texas — The Longview Public Library is at the heart of the action, offering a diverse range of events for families to enjoy this spring break.

"We're here in front of the Longview Public Library because they have events all week for kids and families to participate in," city of Longview spokesperson Richard Yeakley said. "Bingo, storytime, movies, performers."

For those seeking other adventures, the Longview Convention Center is hosting events, such as family bingo day and their annual kite festival.

Now in its third year, promising hours of enjoyment, there will be 1,500 free kites distributed to attendees. Held at Lear Park, this event attracts families from across the region.

Even adults without children can join in the festivities. Yeakley said there's an upcoming St. Patrick's Day Block Party in downtown Longview.

According to Yeakley, these events serve a dual purpose of meeting the community's needs and showcasing the city's services year-round.

"It's just really important that as families are looking for something to do that we meet those needs," he said. "And it also gives us a chance to kind of showcase the services that we provide day in and day out throughout the year, both at the library and through our Parks and Recreation Department."
