JACKSONVILLE, Texas — The city of Jacksonville is reminding its residents to be mindful this holiday season when dealing with fireworks and firearms.
"Discharging weapons and shooting off fireworks are unlawful in the city limits. Violations of either can result in a citation or an arrest," according to city officials.
In addition, individuals who partake in celebratory gunfire will be cited for the crime as it is an illegal activity.
Fireworks that are deployed in an unsafe manner increase the likelihood of a fire and can cause significant injuries if not handled properly.
To report unlawful fireworks and celebratory gunfire, contact the Jacksonville Police Department at (903) 586-2546.
