City of Hawkins hires new police chief following lengthy council meeting

The council voted 4-1 to hire Paul Holland, a retired law enforcement officer with 32 years of experience, as the town’s top cop.

The Hawkins City Council voted during a tense meeting Monday to hire a veteran Texas law enforcement officer as the town’s police chief.

The council voted 4-1 to hire Paul Holland, a retired law enforcement officer with 32 years of experience, as the town’s top cop. Holland has worked at the Dallas Police Department, Collin County Sheriff’s Office, Allen Police Department and Wood County Sheriff’s Office. He was sworn in as chief Tuesday.

Hawkins Mayor Debbie Rushing said Holland’s hiring was “a great day for Hawkins.”
