Christus hosts health care job fair for Chapel Hill High School students

Different professionals within the hospital system were there to answer questions students may have or had to help make their career decision a little easier.

CHAPEL HILL, Texas — To teach students about opportunities in the health care field, Christus Health visited Chapel Hill High School Wednesday to host a job fair.

The students heard from several guest speakers on their experience in the field. Different professionals within the hospital system were there to answer questions students may have or had to help make their decision a little easier.

Senior Elizabeth Villegas said she enjoyed getting to learn about potential careers for her to pursue.

"I was looking for a profession that I'm honestly interested in because I'm kind of not sure what I wanted, but today kind of made me feel more sure. And there's much more than I knew that is actually like a possibility like that I can do," Villegas said.

Christy Murray, director of career and technical education at Chapel Hill High School, said they wanted their freshman academy students to attend as the time draws near for them to pick a career pathway.

"So it's just really important for those students to be able to have this hands-on (experience and) be able to talk to the local professionals from the different departments and actually learn a little bit more about it before they go into their sophomore year and choose their career academy," Murray said.

Seniors that have chosen this field have already started touring the hospitals and clinics in preparation for their future to stay in East Texas.
