MARSHALL, Texas — Editor's Note: The video above is from a Stop the Bleed event in 2019, and features information on how to stop an emergency bleeding incident.
Christus Good Shepherd Health donated specialized health kits to the Marshall Police Department this week.
Coleman Swierc, a spokesperson for the Christus Good Shephard Health System, said the organization donated 100 Stop the Bleed kits to Marshall P.D. The kits have been developed to handle injuries from life-threatening bleeding and emergencies caused by gunshot wounds, stabbing or crushing, Swierc said.
Stop the Bleed is an awareness campaign with the mission of encouraging people to become trained and equipped to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. The campaign was launched by the White House in Oct. 2015 and is based on U.S military success in reducing combat fatalities.
