Chapel Hill ISD investigating bomb threat hoax

CHAPEL HILL, Texas — Chapel Hill ISD authorities are investigating a bomb threat hoax that began before classes started on Thursday morning.

According to the school district, a staff member was informed of a bomb threat against the school on a student's Snapchat.

The student's phone was later confiscated and campus administration notified local authorities of the incident.

An immediate investigation was launched in collaboration with the district police and administrative team to unveil the cause behind the hoax.

According to the press release, the student involved in the incident confessed to perpetrating the hoax and was later placed in detention.

The school district is urging parents to have a serious conversation regarding the incident and highlight the severe consequences that follow false threats.

"Our school district remains unwavering in its dedication to upholding a safe and secure learning environment for all students. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the continued safety of our schools," Chapel Hill ISD said in a statement.
