CARTHAGE, Texas — On Friday, the Carthage ISD Educational Foundation awarded $253,964 to educators across the district to support innovative educational initiatives.
Several projects were funded, including "The Bulldog Buzz," a beekeeping and honey production course offered at Carthage High School, a food truck for the culinary program, book vending machine for Carthage Primary School and more.
The school district said the foundation's grants will also "facilitate educational field trips, allowing students to explore beyond the confines of the classroom and immerse themselves in experiential learning. These excursions broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of various subjects, making learning both memorable and meaningful."
"This day holds a special place in my heart as I witness the priceless excitement gleaming on our students' faces," Cynthia Harkrider, executive director of the Carthage ISD Education Foundation, said. "We are truly blessed to reside in such a remarkably generous community in Carthage, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our donors."
According to the press release, the Carthage ISD Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was established in 2002 with the goal of providing financial support to teachers and students in the district. The foundation relies on donations from the community, local businesses and individuals to fund its programs and initiatives.
