Canton ISD voters pass $114M school bond

The funds will be used to construct a new high school campus.

CANTON, Texas — Canton ISD voters passed a $114.7 million bond Tuesday to fund a new high school and a multi-purpose activity center. 

  • The bond will fund the following projects:

New high school campus with the following additions

  • Regular and special education classrooms
  • Career and technology classrooms
  • Agriculture facility
  • Auditorium
  • Band hall
  • Choir
  • Competition gym
  • Media center

Multi-purpose activity center

"The 2023 Bond is the result of long-range planning and the work of past administrations, the Board of Trustees, and members of the Canton ISD faculty, staff, and community," Superintendent Brian Nichols said. "I would like to thank the members of our Strategic and Long-Range Planning Committee for their time, input, and commitment to our district over the past year.  Over the next several months we will begin working on the implementation of these projects and will keep our community informed throughout the progress. Once again, thank you for your continued support of our district."

The new school could be open by fall 2026 on a 75-acre plot of land donated by the family of Henry Lewis.
