Camp Gladiator donates water to local firefighters to combat summer heat

On Tuesday, Camp Gladiator donated 118 cases of water and 14 cases of Gatorade to the three local fire stations.

BULLARD, Texas — Camp Gladiator is making sure firefighters in East Texas stay hydrated during the summer months.

On Tuesday, Camp Gladiator donated 118 cases of water and 14 cases of Gatorade to the three local fire stations.

Kaitlyn Williams, a Camp Gladiator trainer, said they know firsthand the importance of staying hydrated under extreme conditions.

"We try to make sure that we are staying hydrated, educating our members of the importance of staying hydrated and what better way to give back to the community than helping our firefighters with that," Williams said.

Bullard Fire Chief Peter Riley said Camp Gladiator was able to double the amount of donations from last year.

"Coming up into the summer, it's going to be warm. We need to make sure that our firefighters are staying well hydrated if we're going to combat those heat-related illnesses. They are able to stay in a longer fight for a longer period of time if they are properly hydrated," Riley said.
