Caldwell Zoo remains open; will be taking precautionary steps amid coronavirus concerns

TYLER, Texas — Caldwell Zoo issued a statement Thursday letting people know that they remain open and are taking precautionary measures aimed at coronavirus concerns. 

"We’re paying special attention to updates from the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as other federal, state and local authorities," the zoo said. "Proactively, we’re adding extra measures for cleaning throughout the zoo campus."

Since there are currently no reported cases of COVID-19 in the East Texas area. The zoo says all animals remain unaffected by the disease and the travel of any staff member is being closely monitored. 

The zoo is open during regular business hours. 

"We will remain diligent in current affairs and update our community as news develops," the zoo said.
