TYLER, Texas — The latest craft creation by students at Tyler ISD's Caldwell Arts Academy is a love story of sorts between the subjects of Taylor Swift and Christmas.
Entering the annual 2023 Festival of Trees Christmas display and fundraiser at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital is the Caldwell Arts Academy's third-grade team with a "Swiftie"-themed Christmas tree.
A group of teachers who are Taylor Swift fans came together with their students to create a unique tree featuring the festive spirit and the promotion of kindness and acceptance during the holiday season.
The students used "Swiftie" friendship bracelets from the album "Midnights" to make their ornaments and garlands. Additionally, Robin Paine, a Caldwell Arts Academy parent, made a tree skirt inspired by Swift's Eras Tour with the phrase "Holly Jolly Era."
"We were thrilled to be able to create this tree for a good cause and loved having our students join us in this creation. Taylor Swift has always been good at bringing people together, and we enjoyed singing and creating this tree with our students," teacher Mrs. Ellexson said.
This tree and others will be on display from Nov. 20 to Dec. 6 in the lobby of the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
"If this were my tree, it would stay up all year," Caldwell student Maddie Barber added.
Those interested in participating in this fundraiser can bid on the Swiftie tree or other candidates via the QR code located by the tree. The bidding times coincide with the display time period.
