LONGVIEW, Texas — The building that houses nonprofit One Love Longview is up for sale.
Amanda Veasy, director of the nonprofit, said they were told about the sale ahead of time.
"We went ahead and agreed to lease it to us for an additional year and here we are now at the end of that second year," Veasy said.
She said there’s no controversy in the sale of the building; it's just business.
"We did some negotiating, and we haven’t been able to come up with a number that works with both of us," Veasy said.
Steve Carroll is the owner of the building where One Love sits off McCann Road in Longview. He said he’s selling the building because he and his wife are retiring and downsizing.
"Right now, we’re just month to month on leasing it to them," Carroll said.
Carroll said he's a supporter of One Love and is selling the building for $650,000 and hopes the nonprofit and the community can raise enough money to buy it. Right now, Carroll said he’s not in the financial position to donate the building.
"He’s happy with us being here and until the building sells and whatever that looks like," Veasy said.
One Love doesn't have enough money to buy the building. For now the nonprofit is leasing the building month by month, operating as normal.
"Until the answer is clear, and I can put my feet on the ground at the next place or at this one or at wherever else we land," Veasy said.
