TYLER, TX — Brookshire's Grocery Co. announced Wednesday their stores and affiliated stores will offer online grocery shopping at select locations.
Customers may begin to order groceries Thursday through Instacart by visiting their websites or downloading the Instacart app.
District one district manager for Brookshires, Keith Ridgeway, has been with the company for 35 years, and said there is definitely a need for this kind of service.
"People that are homebound for whatever reason. We have mothers that just have kids at home for whatever reason," he said. "They just want the convenience of not having to go out and get their groceries, and they can let somebody who would take the same opinion of foods as their own and shop for them."
According to Brookshire's, customers will be able to order meat, vegetables, grocery, deli and bakery items. In addition to food, customers may also order household items, beauty and health products and pet products from the stores as well.
Among the prohibited delivery items are alcohol, tobacco and lottery tickets.
After placing an order, customers will also pay for their order online as well.
Instacart requires a $10 minimum for any order. There is a delivery fee of $9.99 for orders under $35 and $5.99 for orders $35 and above.
For customers who join the Instacart annual membership, the $5.99 delivery fee will be waived.
The new online deliveries will be available at the following Brookshire's stores and affiliate stores:
