Brigitta's Hungarian Restaurant in Kilgore to be sold, closed after 7 years in business

The restaurant opened in 2017 and the owners say the customers who've become friends is what they'll miss the most.

KILGORE, Texas — A beloved locally-owned Hungarian restaurant is closing its doors.

Brigitta and Mike, the owners of Brigitta's Hungarian Restaurant in Kilgore, announced Sunday they have decided to sell and close eatery.

"Sometimes making a change is necessary," the couple said. "It wasn’t an easy decision, but Mike and I decided to sell Brigitta's Hungarian RestaurantWe are under contract, and our last day will be October 5. If you haven’t tried us, this is your last chance to try Hungarian food before we close up!"

The restaurant opened in 2017 and the pair says the customers who've become friends is what they'll miss the most.

"We are honored to be able to serve you for seven years, and create something from nothing," said Brigitta and Mike. "We filled a void of having a unique ethnic restaurant that is much needed in the country. We learned a lot through this journey, went through obstacles, survived Covid, managed to stay open after our roof was blown off (with your help, of course)! We couldn’t have done it without you! We are so grateful for all these experiences, it made us who we are today!"

The restaurant also has supplies for sale. Some items can be picked up right away. Other items can be collected between October 13-17.
