Authorities release more information on Tyler double homicide

According to the affidavit, Martin parked his truck outside of the local police department and called them, telling authorities he needed to talk to an officer about a shooting.

SMITH COUNTY — Authorities released an affidavit with more information involved with the double homicide that happened at around 2 a.m. Thursday morning on the 2300 block of Ridgewood Drive.

The shooting resulted in the deaths of 25-year-old Krista Newman of Frankston and 26-year-old Caleb McGrady of Tyler, from separate gunshot wounds to their heads.

Harvey Louis Martin was arrested for allegedly committing the double homicide.

According to the affidavit, Martin parked his truck outside of the local police department and called them, telling authorities he needed to talk to an officer about a shooting.

After authorities made contact with Martin, he told them the gun was outside (referring to his truck.) Martin did not want to talk anymore after that without an attorney present.

Authorities also learned that at the time of the murders, about 10 people were inside the home.

The affidavit also identified Robin Martin as a witness who made a 911 call after he saw what happened and saw Martin speed away from the scene.
