A warrant was issued on Thursday for the arrest of a man who allegedly touched a child inappropriately on an Austin ISD elementary school campus last week.
Allison Elementary School Principal Lupe Velasquez sent a letter to parents on Thursday that said on Friday, October 14, a student reported that a parent came on campus and touched the student inappropriately.
An arrest affidavit identified the parent as 40-year-old Florencio Barron. According to the affidavit, Barron was seen on security cameras groping a 10-year-old student in the hallway. The student told school officials about the incident.
Austin ISD launched an investigation and issued a warrant for Barron's arrest on a charge of indecency with a child.
"We want to commend our student for reporting the incident, and we want to encourage all students to report to a trusted adult, campus leadership or police any time they feel unsafe, threatened or concerned," Velasquez said in the letter.
