LIVINGSTON, Texas — Audrii Cunningham, the missing 11-year-old Livingston girl who was found dead in the Trinity River, will be laid to rest in March.
According to the Pace Funeral Home, a public visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church at 106 Colt Road in Livingston.
On Saturday, March 2, a private rosary service will take place starting at 10:30 a.m. A private funeral service will follow immediately afterward.
The funeral home initially said all services would be public, but that changed Thursday morning. Only the visitation will be open to the public.
Audrii's body was found in the Trinity River on Tuesday after she had been missing for nearly six days.
A family friend, Don Steven McDougal, has been charged in connection with her death.
Who was Audrii Cunningham?
Audrii was born on Feb. 5, 2013, in Livingston, Texas. She was a 5th-grader who attended Creekside Elementary in Livingston ISD before she was killed.
"While the details of this tragedy are still unfolding, our hearts go out to the entire community during this heartbreaking loss," the district posted to its Facebook page the day Audrii's body was found.
Audrii's mom, Casey Matthews, said Audrii was a great child who was smart, fun, caring and had so many opportunities ahead of her.
Matthews' best friend, Rebecca, said Audrii lit up any room she ever walked in, and didn't deserve what happened to her.
"Casey is inconsolable," Rebecca told KHOU 11 News. "She had this end goal: She was going to be reunited with her baby and now she's not."
Audrii is survived by her mom, father, brother, sister and grandparents.
A vigil to honor Audrii was held Wednesday evening.
