MARSHALL, Texas — An armed standoff ended peacefully after negotiations with Marshall Police on Wednesday night.
The Marshall Police Department said they received a call from a resident on Slone Drive who had reported a relative fired two shots inside the house and was behaving erratically. Police arrived to the scene and witnessed the caller escaping through a window. She told police her nephew was in a bedroom with her 86-year-old mother.
The responding officer was able to establish contact with the suspect, Trayvion Montgomery-Horn. Police said that Montgomery-Horn closed the blinds and began yelling on the phone after initial attempts from law enforcement to communicate with him. Officers continued to engage with him through a window while ensuring the safety of nearby residents and law enforcement, MPD said.
MPD's Crisis Negotiations Team and Special Response Team arrived and were able to create a dialogue with the suspect. The team confirmed that the elderly woman in the room was conscious and had not been harmed.
After three hours of negotiations, teams were able to resolve the situation peacefully. Montgomery-Horn was taken custody without incident, and was later booked into the Harrison County Sheriff's Office. He has been charged with deadly conduct discharge firearm, continuous violence against family and assault causing bodily injury family violence.
MPD confirmed that the two women involved were unharmed.
