TYLER, Texas — An Andrews Center Behavioral Healthcare System employee is among just a few people to receive a Shining Star Award for her work in suicide prevention care.
Mari Gutierrez, the Andrews Center suicide prevention coordinator and Zero Suicide team leader, will accept the honor on behalf of Andrews Behavioral Health on Sept. 18 in Mesquite.
According to a Facebook post from the Andrews Center, this award is one of only four such awards distributed statewide by the Texas Suicide Prevention Council.
Andrews Center Behavioral Healthcare System is a nonprofit comprehensive mental health and intellectual and developmental disability center. The center serves as the local mental health authority for five counties: Smith, Wood, Rains, Van Zandt and Henderson.
The award recognizes people and groups that have shown great dedication and commitment to the advancement of suicide care.
"The council believes that Andrews has shown exemplary leadership and innovation in implementing the Zero Suicide framework within our organization," the Facebook post read. "This prestigious award recognizes commitment to advancing suicide prevention efforts with outstanding dedication, commitment, and leadership."
