HEARTLAND, Texas — An AMBER Alert has been issued for a missing Texas boy.

According to the Crandall Police Department, Connor Young, a 12-year-old Black male, is reportedly with a Black female, identified as Dorcas Young.

They say the child was last seen in the 2800 block of Lolita Way in Hartland, about 25 miles east of Dallas, on July 4, 2024, even though the alert wasn't issued until Saturday night.

The CPD released the following statement after questions as to why the alert was issued on Nov. 2:

"Good evening and thank you for your patience. The Crandall Police Dept. received a call from an AT&T employee on 10/30/24 advising that Dorcas Young B/F had texted them some concerning messages regarding her mental health. Officers responded to Young’s residence in Heartland where no one appeared to be home. Kaufman County Dispatch then assisted with “pinging” Young’s cell phone which showed her to be in the area of Park Ln. and the N. Central Express Way in Dallas. Due to Young’s location being in Dallas, the call was transferred to the Dallas Police Dept. On 11/02/24, Young’s oldest daughter, age 24, arrived at the Crandall Police Dept. to file a missing person report on Young and her two siblings, ages 19 and 12. As of this evening, Young’s vehicle was located at a hotel in Dallas and Officers are still working on locating Young and the two children. Thank you

The suspect vehicle is described as a 2023 black GMC Yukon with a TX license plate: SNH5831.

DPS says the alert is considered local and has been activated for the following counties:
