TYLER, Texas — A 68-year-old Tyler woman is getting her feet off the ground doing a sport most wouldn't imagine.
Age is nothing but a number for Regina Money, and at the age of 68, it's more of a reason to learn something new.
"It wasn't something that I was like yeah, all those people, I'm going to go for the experience, and then I experienced," Money said.
After eight years, that new skill is aerial acrobatics. POSA is a nonprofit organization for pole sports and pole arts. Her talent punched her a ticket to the Pole and Aerial Sports Federation World Championship in Athens, Greece.
"It's something I’d never thought I'd do. So, it's kind of got to set in and I've got to accumulate that idea that that really happened. So, it's surreal basically," Money said.
She claimed first place in silks and second place in lyra, going up against competitors from all across the world. And she was the oldest in the competition!
"There's no age limit in life, as long as we keep moving and find out what our bodies can do and what we enjoy," Coach Susan Stevens said.
Other athletes on Team USA like Izzy Crayton and Audrey St. Amant train with Money at Aerial Expressions. Crayton was in the top 20, and at nationals, St. Amant received first place in silks.
"Our team is the best team ever. Everyone is so sweet and so supportive of everything you do even outside the studio," Crayton said.
