Nearly 500 people sign petition regarding investigation into deplorable conditions at one Texas animal control center

The petition currently sits at 493 signatures.

MARLIN, Texas — A total of 493 people have signed a Change.org petition regarding the gruesome conditions seen at the Marlin Animal Control Center back on Jan. 9, 2023.

The goal of the petition is to get Texas Attorney Gen. Ken Paxton to force Texas Rangers to conduct a fair, unbiased investigation into what led to these circumstances and hold those who are responsible accountable.

This all stems from a post made by Jeffrey Rich on Jan. 9. Rich stated that he went to the Marlin Animal Control Center in order to look for a lost dog of his, but what he found instead was an absolutely horrific scene.

One person who signed the petition, Pam Kelly, stated, “Transparency and accountability are crucial in government. The conditions at our shelter were jaw-dropping and the suffering heartbreaking. Those who are legally responsible must be held legally accountable so this never happens again."

An outside investigation into the situation is reportedly being conducted by the Falls County Sheriff's Office. However, no legal action has taken place yet.
