4 dead, including East Texas father and sons, in Henderson County wreck

Michael Bone, 29, and his two sons as well as the driver of the other vehicle, Merri Kelly, 57, of Murchison, were all killed in an Oct. 6 crash.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — Editor's Note: Texas Department of Public Safety previously said the crash happened at the incorrect time. The wreck happened at 12:24 p.m. on Oct. 6.

Four people, including a father and his young sons, were killed earlier this month after a two-vehicle crash in Henderson County.

Michael Bone 29, and his sons 8-year-old Waylon and 11-year-old Corey as well as the driver of the other vehicle, Merri Kelly, 57, of Murchison, were all killed after a wreck just after noon on Oct. 6 on FM 1616 north of Athens.

Bone was driving 1993 Ford Ranger east on FM 1616 when he traveled into the westbound lane of the road and struck Kelly's 2015 Nissan Armada that was going west, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said Bone and his sons were pronounced dead at the scene. Kelly was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the Bone family, including Michael Bone's wife Kelsey, following the tragic loss.
